Lightbulb The necro Debate!

Ok I want to know what everyones favorite necro build is for both PvP and PvE. (Example-my favorite for PvP is degen and PvE is solo 55necro) and this also gives all of yall a chance to show your own builds that you made.

Never have played my Necro in PvP, but I prefer being the Battery, its kind of a more support role, but not as heavy as a Monk.

My favorite PvE necro is either Minion Master or BiP, and my favorite PvP necro is either blood or FoC spike.

PvE - Blood/Curse mix with SS and support hexes.

PvP - Something with SS or Wither for antiwar / anticaster. Don't like degen.

Battery necro..... What is it with people needing another character to manage their energy for them? Just say no!

A monk should have some form of energy management, such as offering of blood or something from the mesmer line. Heck, even Peace and Harmony! Elementalists, mesmers and of course necros all have means of managing their energy.

Why have a character, 1/8 or 1/6 of a team, with a focus on helping others manage their energy when they could contribute so much more to the team through blood attack spells, curses or minions?

Anyway, here's one of my favorites, used in PvE:

Necromancer/Monk Level: 20

Soul Reaping: 13 (12+1)
Blood Magic: 16 (12+4)

- Awaken the Blood (Blood Magic)
For 46 seconds, you gain +2 Blood Magic and +2 Curses, but whenever you sacrifice Health, you sacrifice 50% more than the normal amount.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:45

- Dark Pact (Blood Magic)
Sacrifice 10% Health and deal 51 shadow damage to target foe.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:2

- Shadow Strike (Blood Magic)
Target foe takes 50 shadow damage. If that foe's Health is above 50%, you steal 50 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:8

- Vampiric Gaze (Blood Magic)
Steal 63 Health from target foe.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:5

- Vampiric Touch (Blood Magic)
Touch target foe to steal up to 77 Health.
Energy:15 Cast:0.75 Recharge:2

- Unholy Feast (Blood Magic)
Steal 42 Health from up to 5 foes in the area.
Energy:15 Cast:1 Recharge:30

- Offering of Blood [Elite] (Blood Magic)
Sacrifice 10% maximum Health. You gain 21 Energy.
Energy:5 Cast:0.25 Recharge:15

- Resurrection Signet ()
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0

Use whatever you want in the Unholy Feast spot.

That's a beautiful sight. Straight Blood, Full Vamp, as I like to call it. Not many attributes lines let you do that. It works anywhere, bypasses most defenses and it's as simple as can be. I've stood toe-to-toe against two warriors in CA and put them both down with that build. (repeatedly)

Personally, I'd replace Unholy Feast with Mark of Subversion, for a little monk-hate.

My favorite PvE necro is Minion Master
The only PvP necro I play is a tainted necro
but since I dont like being a supportive character and I dont like IWAY my favorite PvP build would probably be a blood spiker

Exact same build as what I use for PvP. It's known as the Dark Aura Spiker and does massive amounts of damage. Not to mention wielding a sword looks kickass on a necro.

My favorite for pve is now the 55 necro, for pvp FoC spike or the minion bomb build.

true a skilled caster should have nrg management. however any nrg managment sacrifices damage/healing potential. the less you are concerned about restraint of casting due to depleting nrg, the more effective you are at doing your job. this alows casters of all types to bring higher cost/lower recharge time skills that are far beyond the reach of even the best managers of nrg.

i totally agree, that is why i have made a support necro build that is a blend between nrg regen, high damage spike, and tank protection.

I love playing N/W,
I like the Virulence build, but over time i've found that the disease
makes people angry...on both teams...

Thus...Blood Nec!

Blood=16
Soul Reaping=7
Sword=10

Vampiric Touch
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Shadow Strike
Touch of Agony
Blood Renewal
Grenth's Balance {E}
Res Sig

The sword is fun to bait people with.
Then when you start dealing that can't really be blocked,
people realize what a mistake they have made .

IMO, Necromancers deal the best kind of dmg.
That which can't be blocked.

PvE-while i can run almost everything you can think of for a pve necro, i LOVE the MM most of all. it will always hold a special place in my heart. :P

PvP-normally whatever i feel like. i experiment a lot with different builds, but i think my fave is a blood spiker. i wont die unless i get energy tapped or spiked or mesmer hexed to oblivion.

Well degen is the cheapest shot you could do as a necro but i do it if i dont have a very well organized pvp or gvg group
as far as minion master the only time i use that is MF oro fa ans sometimes gvg
people say mm doesnt work in gvg but as long as you have a lot of independent dmg without MM then people die fast and you can get a lot of minions because the rate of res and death its like a slightly slower minion factory but i dont have to heal my minions because people aer dying so fast i have enough out that im constantly casting bone horror or fiend as far as energy goes im fine with even just a 9 soul reaping and right now im thinking of getting a uw spider just because its like a stronger minion and in gvg i dont use monk or mesmer skills the bad side to the spider would be that if it dies everything has to recharge
I think that SS/ price of failure spamming works ok but the monks strip hexes a lot in organized groups I've been thinking of using ss price of failure and a skill that makes you blind so theyre taking almost 70 dmg every time they swing even though that cant do dmg but mend ailment owns that
I could keep going but i gotta go eat i guess im just trying to say you gotta start being creative stop the degen build all the time try something else
oh the one i just tried out was a build where you sacrifice almost all your health and then use grenths balance....
